01
Agreement to these terms
These terms govern your use of Qiao, a bilingual introduction directory connecting people in China and East Asia with the world. By requesting a sign-in link, creating a profile or using the directory, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use Qiao.
Qiao is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tencent or WeChat.
02
Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old. You must use a valid email address that you control and provide accurate profile information. You are responsible for access to your email account and for activity carried out through your Qiao session.
Do not create an account for someone else, impersonate a real person, or use Qiao if we have previously suspended you.
03
The directory and your profile
Your profile is a draft until you explicitly publish it. Only published, compliant profiles appear in the public directory. You retain ownership of your content but grant Qiao a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host and display the fields you publish for the purpose of operating the directory.
You may not publish unlawful, deceptive, hateful, sexually explicit, harassing, or infringing content. Do not include contact details for other people without their permission. We may remove content, unpublish a profile or restrict accounts to protect the community.
04
Contact requests and private QR access
A contact request must include a genuine introduction of 20–500 characters and must not be used for bulk outreach, advertising or harassment. We enforce one pending request per pair and a rolling limit of five new requests per 24 hours, along with other anti-abuse measures.
Accepting a request grants the requester a personal, revocable, non-transferable permission to view the specific QR version selected by the owner. It is not a licence to publish, share, resell or scrape that contact. Access can be revoked at any time. A screenshot cannot be undone, so only accept people you are comfortable sharing with.
We never permit public QR pages, automated friend requests, account harvesting or platforms that trade contact details. Qiao does not automate anything inside WeChat.
05
Safety and prohibited conduct
- Do not harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against or defraud other members.
- Do not request money, identity documents, passwords, verification codes or financial account details.
- Do not scrape the directory, bypass rate limits, probe internal APIs, or attempt to access another member's private data.
- Do not upload malware, HTML, executable content or anything other than a genuine personal WeChat QR when that feature is available.
- Do not report someone solely to gain access to their contact information or to retaliate.
06
Moderation and suspension
Reports are reviewed by staff whose permissions are checked independently on the server. We may warn, restrict, suspend or delete an account, revoke grants, remove content or preserve records where necessary for safety and legal compliance. We may not be able to disclose investigation details to protect reporters and other members.
You can block or report a member through the safety controls. Blocking prevents future requests in either direction and removes the relationship from discovery for both parties.
07
Disclaimers
Qiao is a pilot provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not verify identity, conduct criminal background checks, guarantee compatibility, or guarantee that an introduction will lead to a safe or successful meeting. You are responsible for your interactions with others.
We are not responsible for conversations, payments, meetings or other activities that occur outside Qiao or on WeChat. Local emergency services should always be contacted if someone is in danger.
08
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Qiao and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or opportunities arising from your use of the pilot. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
09
Ending your use
You may stop using Qiao at any time and request account deletion in privacy settings. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms, security risks or legal requirements. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
10
Changes and governing terms
We may update these terms as the pilot evolves and will change the date above. Material changes will be announced in the product where practical. Formal governing law, company entity and dispute-resolution details will be published before a public launch.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. These terms do not limit mandatory consumer rights.
Still have questions?
This is a pilot policy. Formal company details, contact channels and governing jurisdiction will be added before public launch. Please do not send sensitive personal information through Qiao.
